The project began with a research and data-gathering session to understand SLRM’s goals and challenges, brand values and operating environment.
Based on the project scope, milestones were determined, and review versions of the work were provided at each milestone for feedback and approval.
Upon thorough analysis of SLRM’s logo, the Lunar Yeti team identified the symbolic representation of the four different coloured flowers as the major communities in Sri Lanka, all belonging to a common root.

After brainstorming various ideas, the team at Lunar Yeti decided to create an animated version of the logo that would showcase the growth of the flowering plant, with each flower blossoming and then fading back to the original 2D logo.

This concept clearly enforces the meaning behind their tagline: “Shared Roots, Diverse Stories”.
The style chosen for this animation was a semi-realistic 3D version of the logo, which would ultimately fade back to the original 2D version of the logo once fully formed.

Results
The logo received raving applause from the SLRM team (including members who were not privy to the creation process).
The logo animation was used in several productions from SLRM and most of their video posts on social media.
The use of this logo animation along with their other brand guidelines and brand assets is helping to build a much stronger brand recognition for SLRM.
Since the logo animation was created, SLRM has increased the number of collaborations with other organizations, been invited by larger scale organizations to participate in bigger projects and even began hosting their own public screening for their own documentary projects.

“We at SLRM were looking to strengthen our brand look and feel and while we had done a lot of work internally on our brand guidelines we needed to add something unique, especially to our video projects. Having a logo animation created by LY was just the answer we were looking for.”

Conclusion
A key takeaway from this project is the significant impact that creative assets can have on brand-building efforts.
The value of these assets should never be underestimated, particularly when they align with brand values, support the brand story, and demonstrate professional expertise.
SLRM has effectively utilized such assets for over a year and is likely to continue doing so in the future, highlighting the enduring value of such creative assets.
